About
Ethan Ludwick is a Pittsburgh based music composer and pianist. He focuses on writing music for ensembles and soloists, as well as soundtracks for various media and entertainment genres.
Ethan’s music is imaginative blend of old and new, taking inspiration from classical and contemporary musical styles. Never afraid to push boundaries, his music takes the acoustic and digital worlds and seeks to present them as a unified medium.
Ethan has had many opportunities to collaborate on a variety of projects with multiple artists and groups. Some of these include his capstone work, Skyward, being performed by the Carnegie Mellon University Philharmonic; working in conjunction with Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and the acclaimed Shuho Kondo for Phipps’ 2019 Fall Flower Show Japanese Inspirations; and having the honor of being asked to participate in the first virtual concert at Carnegie Mellon with his piece Crossing Chasms.
Ethan trained as a classical pianist throughout middle school, high school, and undergraduate studies. While there he started writing his own piano works and his fascination with writing began. Since then, he has taken classes at Berklee School of Music and attended graduate studies Carnegie Mellon University were he has studied with composers such as Nancy Galbraith, Ben Newhouse, Pinar Toprak, Annika Socolofsky, Jesse Stiles, and Leonardo Balada.
